1. The GSM (2G) network in Australia / USA was recently discontinued and my old iSocket doesn't work anymore. Why?
The previous generation of iSocket - e.g. iSocket PowerWatch (ISGSML707AU/ISGSML707US) - is a GSM product, i.e. 2G. It will not work on a 3G network. When we learnt of the Australian and the US operators’ intention to shut down the 2G GSM network we stopped selling 2G GSM units and began to design the next generation iSocket - 3G for the Australian and the USA market (where operators are now also discontinuing GSM). We did, however, have a sort of “exchange campaign” - see here
, and we informed customers who allowed us to inform them about products changes (i.e. "Updates about my product" subscription). This campaign is unfortunately no longer available. But you can find our current offers for iSocket 3G here

2. We already have a 4G (LTE) network and 5G is coming. Will iSocket work on these networks?
iSocket 3G will only work on 3G (UMTS) and 2G (GSM) networks, but not on 4G (LTE) or 5G. We do not offer a 4G/5G model, because right now the cost would be unreasonably high for the simple applications that iSocket 3G offers you - power outage
and temperature monitoring. However, this doesn't mean that you can't use iSocket in your location. It is very unlikely that your area is only covered by the 4G network! In most cases if you have a 4G network, then you will also have 3G.
That's why iSocket 3G will work in such locations. iSocket 3G also supports fallback to 2G networks. We believe that 3G networks will continue to exist for at least the next 10 years in most countries. We will create a 4G model as soon as operators offer better technologies that are specifically tailored for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications - e.g. LTE (4G) CAT-M. But for now, iSocket 3G is the best way to solve your problems.
